Locally Sourced Wedding Food

Why local?

When planning a wedding, one of the most important decisions that couples have to make is choosing the right menu. With the growing interest in sustainable living and environmental awareness, more and more couples are opting for locally sourced food for their weddings.

What is local?

Locally sourced food refers to food that is grown or produced within a certain distance from the wedding venue. This can include fruits, vegetables, meats, and dairy products that are sourced from local farms or producers. By choosing locally sourced food, couples can ensure that their menu is fresh, seasonal, and of high quality. It also reduces the carbon footprint associated with transporting food over long distances, as well as supporting the local economy. All our caterers are local and therefore endeavour to supply local ingredients.

Unique

One of the main advantages of locally sourced food for weddings is that it allows couples to create a personalised and unique menu that reflects their taste and the local culinary traditions. This can include incorporating local specialties such as artisanal cheeses, craft beers, or regional wines. It can also mean incorporating traditional dishes from the area, such as seafood on the coast, or farm-to-table vegetables in the countryside. At the bar we welcome couples to investigate the use of local wines, craft and local beers – it adds a personal touch to the day which is really special.

Ethical

Locally sourced food can also offer a more sustainable and ethical option for couples who are concerned about the environmental impact of their wedding. By choosing food that is grown or produced locally, couples can reduce the carbon emissions associated with transporting food over long distances. Additionally, they can support local farmers and producers who use sustainable and environmentally friendly farming practices.

Personalised

Another advantage of locally sourced food for weddings is that it can offer a more authentic and memorable experience for guests. By choosing food that is reflective of the local culture and culinary traditions, couples can create a unique and personalised wedding that stands out from others. Guests will appreciate the effort put into sourcing the menu, and the opportunity to try new and interesting dishes.

Cost

However, many believe that sourcing locally can come at a higher cost, so couples need to consider this in their wedding budget. Additionally, locally sourced food may not always be available in large quantities, so couples should work with our preferred caterers to plan their menu accordingly. English wine is exceptional nowadays but also comes with a higher price tag. It’s always worth us investigating the options though.
