The Manor Estate in Winterbourne Stoke is many things at once. A Grade II* listed 17th-century manor house that has been a family home for generations, and now hosts guests from all over the World. A barn that once stabled horses, once kept pigs, and now hosts some of the most personal and memorable weddings and events in the South West. An estate set in the chalk valleys of Wiltshire, with the river Till running through its grounds — and two miles from one of the most extraordinary landmarks on earth.
What it is not is corporate. It is not a function room or a conference centre or a hospitality product. It is a place where a family has lived, worked, grieved, celebrated, and loved — and it carries every one of those years in its walls.
We believe that is precisely what makes it extraordinary for a wedding or any event in fact. You are not hiring a room. You are being welcomed into a home.
The barn that Monica's pigs called home — and we have called ours
The Manor Barn is believed to date from the 18th century. For much of its life it served the farm in the most practical of ways: stabling horses that worked the fields, and housing the pigs of Monica Turner, the current owner’s grandmother, who kept them here for years.
When the decision was made to restore the barn and open it for weddings, the work was done with care and respect for what it had always been. Conservation rooflights were installed. Every original brick, every timber, every flint was retained. The result is not a conversion. It is a restoration — a building that is unmistakably itself, simply given a new purpose while remaining true to its character.
The barn has been hosting weddings for over ten years now. It is Grade II* curtilage listed alongside the manor house. It accommodates up to 120 guests. And it has never, not once, looked the same twice — because every couple who comes here makes it their own.
Pippa, and the wedding that became a calling
Pippa has co-ordinated every wedding at Manor Estate. She will meet you for a tour, answer every question, and be the person at the end of the phone at 7am on the morning of your wedding if you need her. She will remember the things you told her months ago. She will fight your corner with suppliers. She will notice when something needs doing before you notice it yourself.
Her approach is not complicated: she listens, she cares, and she works impossibly hard to make sure that what happens here is exactly what you dreamed of — and often, quietly, a little more.
There are no packages at Manor Estate. There is no Bronze, Silver or Gold. There is simply your wedding, built from scratch around you. That is the only way Pippa knows how to do it.

We were initially drawn to the venue by the picturesque grounds and beautiful interiors. After a virtual tour and a face to face visit, we fell even more in love with the place and decided to go ahead and place our deposit.
Over the next year, we planned our day which, due to the natural beauty of the barn and grounds, required us to need minimal decorations - we didn't want to distract from the natural features of the barn or the lovely outside areas.
Pippa was amazing throughout the whole planning stage, ensuring we were well prepared in the run up to the big day. Her personality and relaxed yet professional attitude shone through during our initial meets and really helped us to reach the decision to use the venue for our special day.
Due to the unpredictable British weather, our original plan of being married outside was decided for us - the day before, we made the call to get married inside the barn due to the unwanted rain we were having.
Although a little disappointed to have missed out on using the beautiful space outside for our ceremony, it was actually a blessing as our inside ceremony felt more intimate and enabled all of our guests to hear our wedding vows. We still managed to get some great photos later in the day within that beautiful space by the river having taken advantage of some intermittent sunshine.
Pippa was around to help set up beforehand and on the wedding day itself, she (and her mum and partner) made the day go smoothly. The turnaround of the venue's indoor space (from ceremony, to wedding breakfast, to evening reception) was seamless and everything was set up to our requests and it looked beautiful.
The wedding day itself was just perfect for us despite the on/off rain and Pippa definitely played a part in enabling our beautiful day to go so well.
My family and I stayed in the South Wing the night before and night of the wedding. The accommodation was faultless and helped to create that calm atmosphere you need just before your wedding day. Who'd have thought we'd be appreciative of a log fire in June!
Using the bridal suite to get ready with my bridesmaids was a real highlight. We all had so much space to do our thing with our hair and makeup artist also being able to set up with ample space, and our photographer able to navigate between us all with ease to get those all important 'getting ready' shots.
Some of our guests stayed in the Courtyard the night of the wedding and passed on their comments as to how clean and comfortable the accommodation was.
All in all, I would urge anyone to consider the Manor Estate for their wedding venue as not only is it breathtakingly gorgeous, but the help with planning and the support throughout the whole day was impeccable. Pippa really helped to completely eliminate any wedding-stress which allowed for all of us to enjoy such an amazing day together.
Pippa - thank you so much for having us for our wedding day. You've helped to create memories that we will all treasure for the rest of our lives together. Thank you also to your mum for helping the bridal party to arrive to the ceremony without getting soaked! Also, thank you to Mr Pippa for his help throughout the day. It was all just faultless and perfect.

We felt welcome immediately when we arranged a venue visit with the couple a month or so before the wedding, we were shown around by wedding manager Pippa who was very lovely and helpful. Even on the wedding day itself, we felt very at ease by the thorough communication throughout the day - which from a photography & videography point of view is essential to make sure we can plan ahead accordingly.
We hope to return soon to this gorgeous venue!
