Wiltshire Wedding Venue

One of the first things couples say when they visit Manor Estate is:

“It already feels calm.”

That’s the magic of hosting a wedding weekend rather than a single-day celebration — and it’s something we see time and time again here at our family-run estate in Winterbourne Stoke, Wiltshire.

With a 17th-century manor house, a beautifully restored barn, and the River Till flowing gently past the gardens, Manor Estate is designed for couples who want their wedding to feel unhurried, personal, and genuinely enjoyable — for themselves and for their guests.

If you’re considering turning your wedding into a weekend, this guide will walk you through what that looks like at Manor Estate, from arrival to final goodbyes.

What Is a Wedding Weekend at Manor Estate?

A wedding weekend at Manor Estate means having the space — and the time — to truly settle in.

Couples typically arrive the day before their wedding and stay for two nights, although we’re very flexible and happy to accommodate longer stays if you’d like to make even more of it.

With exclusive use of the estate, including:

  • Our licensed barn
  • A south-facing outdoor ceremony space by the River Till
  • The paddocks, gardens, and grounds
  • And accommodation for up to 14 guests in the manor house

…your wedding becomes less about ticking boxes and more about creating an experience you’ll remember forever.

Day One: Arrival at the Manor

Arrival day is often when couples realise they’ve made the right decision.

As guests begin to arrive at Manor Estate, there’s no rush and no pressure. Bags are unpacked, bedrooms chosen, and the house quickly fills with conversation and excitement.

The manor house sleeps 14 guests across two self-contained apartments, each with its own kitchen and living spaces:

  • The South Wing (three bedrooms), usually home to the bridal party
  • The Courtyard Apartment (four bedrooms), often where groomsmen stay

This natural split works beautifully, giving everyone space while still feeling connected.

The Ceremony: Barn or By the River

Manor Estate offers two licensed ceremony options, giving couples flexibility in every season.

Many choose to marry:

  • Inside our restored barn, a former stable built from brick and flint, with original beams, stone floors, and soft underfloor heating throughout
  • Or outdoors in our south-facing ceremony space beside the River Till, with swans often drifting past during the vows

Both options feel equally special — one offering warmth and character, the other open skies and a beautiful riverside backdrop.

Celebrating in the Barn & Beyond

Our barn can seat up to 120 guests for the wedding breakfast and is designed to feel welcoming in every season.

Couples love features such as:

  • Original beams and stone floors
  • Cartwheel lighting for a warm evening glow
  • Underfloor heating for cosy autumn and winter weddings
  • A converted grain store upstairs, now a characterful indoor bar
  • An undercover outdoor bar for summer celebrations

For larger guest lists or a different layout, there’s also ample space in the paddocks for a marquee, allowing you to shape the day exactly as you wish.

Because the estate is exclusively yours, guests naturally spread out between the barn, gardens, and riverside, creating a relaxed, flowing atmosphere throughout the day.

Staying Over: A Huge Part of the Experience

One of the things guests comment on most is how much they enjoy staying on site.

There’s no need to worry about taxis, driving late at night, or leaving early. When the music winds down, it’s just a short walk back to the manor house.

For couples, knowing that their closest friends and family are staying together under one roof adds another layer of meaning to the celebration.

The Morning After: A Gentle Goodbye

Instead of rushing off, the morning after a wedding at Manor Estate tends to be slow and sociable.

Guests gather in the kitchens and living rooms, share breakfast, and relive favourite moments from the day before. Some take a walk along the river, others sit outside watching the sheep in the paddocks.

It’s a soft landing after a big celebration — and often when couples say it all finally sinks in. There is also the option to extend your stay until 4pm and invite family and friends who have travelled miles for the wedding day to come back for brunch or a BBQ lunch.

A Family-Run Venue, From First Viewing to Final Goodbye

Manor Estate is run as a family, and that personal approach is at the heart of everything we do.

From your initial viewing right through to waving you off at the end of your stay, Pippa is there every step of the way. As the daughter of the family and your main point of contact, she’s hands-on throughout the planning process and coordinates the wedding on the day itself, ensuring everything runs smoothly while you simply enjoy it.

It’s a level of care and continuity that couples often say makes all the difference.
